24 Solar Terms SeriesMajor Cold – Root Chakra Healing + Codonopsis & Astragalus Soup
Deep Winter Nourishment
The deepest winter is the perfect season to turn inward. With warm sound healing, we soothe the body and mind; with traditional Cantonese soup, we nourish the root of life.
Major Cold Solar Term
"Major Cold is the most extreme, surpassing Minor Cold, hence its name." At this time, cold reaches its peak. All things hibernate, the body's yang energy retreats deep within, and yin essence accumulates—the final phase of the year for returning to life's source and storing energy for renewal. In the coldest season, we use herbal soups to warm our roots and replenish qi and blood. The Root Chakra is like a hot spring deep within the earth, continuously supplying energy, letting the body say: 'I am safe, I am nourished.'

Root Chakra
The Root Chakra serves as the foundation of the body's energy system. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, it corresponds with 'Kidney Essence' and 'Spleen-Stomach' as the basis of life. The Kidney stores essence and governs the intake of qi—corresponding to the Root Chakra's survival instinct and life force. The Spleen governs blood and transformation—echoing the nourishing and supporting functions of root energy. This area is regarded in TCM as the 'Foundation of Pre-Heaven,' like an endless hot spring deep in the earth, nourishing our sense of security and vitality.
